Abstract

The use of mathematical methods in military affairs covers a wide range of tasks: from cryptographic data protection, analysis of the dynamics of combat collisions to optimization of the trajectories of ballistic objects. Given the increasing technological complexity of modern armed conflicts, making informed military decisions requires the integration of rigorous analytical approaches, quantitative analysis, and forecasting the dynamics of confrontations. Modern mathematical models of hostilities make it possible to analyze the development of armed conflicts and predict their outcome based on quantitative indicators. In the article, the author conducts a study and explains one of the most famous mathematical models of combat, Lanchester’s square law of direct fire. This will help deduce the right battle strategy as well as proper decision making to defeat the enemy and avoid catastrophic mistakes
