The paper presents the results of experimental and computational studies of the fuel residue passivation processes in the launch vehicle tanks. The conducted bench tests showed that within the first 5–8 seconds after the supply of inert gas, the pressure in the tank decreases from 1.65 GPa to 1.58 GPa, while the temperature drops from 298 K to 291 K. CFD modeling confirmed the observed trends and enabled a detailed analysis of the pressure and temperature distribution throughout the volume, as well as an examination of the gas flow velocity fields. The simulation data show good agreement with the experimental results (the average deviation does not exceed 5%). The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the selected passivation mode and confirm the feasibility of combining CFD modeling with experimental studies.
