Abstract

This scientific article presents and details a methodology for the quantitative assessment of the combat potential of modern wheeled armored vehicles (WAVs) within a normalized range from 0 to 1. The developed mathematical model is based on a hierarchical, comprehensive additive-multiplicative approach that incorporates insights from local conflicts and modern high-intensity warfare, accounting for the widespread use of FPV drones, loitering munitions, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and precision-guided weapons. The integral potential index is calculated across four key evaluation modules: firepower potential (weight 0.35), protection and survivability (0.30), mobility and endurance (0.20), as well as situational awareness and commandability (0.15). The study provides detailed mathematical justifications for standardized requirements regarding gun caliber, rate of fire, elevation drive dynamics, and high elevation angles needed to counter small UAVs. The proposed methodological framework enables an objective classification of evaluated armored vehicles into four effectiveness categories.
