The article discusses the modern significance of drones in the air defense system. The main functions of drones are analyzed: reconnaissance, aiming, electronic warfare and interception of air targets. The threats posed by enemy drones and approaches to their destruction are covered. Particular attention is paid to the prospects for using artificial intelligence and networking technologies in the integration of unmanned aerial vehicles into the air defense system. The author notes the current trends in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles and their integration into the air defense system. Examples of the destruction of unmanned aerial vehicles by interceptor drones in various ways are given. The technological and organizational advantages, as well as the risks associated with the introduction of unmanned aerial vehicles into defense circuits are described. The promising areas of development of drones as part of a comprehensive air defense system are presented.
