S. Nurmagambetov’s frontline awards

Abstract

The article is based on the results of the research of one of the historical participation of the most legendary military leader, the first Defense Minister, Sagadat Kozhakhmetovich Nurmagambetov,  the sovereign Kazakhstan in the Great Patriotic War, it tells about his frontline feats and military merits. The opinions from his superiors and frontline fellow soldiers about S.  Nurmagambetov’s personal contribution to the victory and the unit he commanded are represented in the research. The article shows the award system of the Soviet pre-war period, its development during the Great Patriotic War and the state insignia meaning.  Sagadat Nurmagambetov’s awards in its chronological order based on archival documents and the achievements of the combat units in which he fought on various fronts of the World War II have been presented.
